8-UNDER JV GAME (exhibition game)
BROOKLINE 14 - West Mifflin 12
Scoring Summary:
Racari El 30 run (conversion failed)
Racari El 10 run (Ricari El run)
NOTES: Brookline's Littlest Knights earned their first win of
the year with a 14-12 triumph over West Mifflin's Tiny Titans.
West Mifflin scored once in the first half and took a 6-0 lead
into the intermission.
Brookline opened the second half with a touchdown march of
their own, capped off by Racari El's thirty yard touchdown run,
to tie the score at 6-6. The Titans retook the lead, 12-6,
midway through the second half.
Brookline's offense responded with a long march, highlighted by
a ten yard endzone dash by Racari, tying the game once more. A
good conversion run by Racari put the Knights on top and sealed
the victory. This win was a long time coming, and Brookline's
fans, players and coaches celebrated.
The Little Ones played a good game. The defense held the Titans
back while the offense awakened from it's long slumber. Running
back Anthony Herisko had a couple good runs, as did quarterback
Mario Grannison. In addition to his two touchdown runs, Racari
El hauled in three nice passes from Grannison.
Congratulations to Brookline's Little Knights!
WEEK #8 - October 20, 2012 @ West Mifflin Middle School
8-UNDER
West Mifflin 12 - BROOKLINE 0
Fumble Recovery: Idris Wilson
NOTES: Brookline's Eights fell to 2-5 after this 12-0 loss. The
Knights defense did a good job of holding West Mifflin to only
two touchdowns, but received little support from the offense,
who were plagued by a string of untimely fumbles and penalties.

NOTES: Brookline's Nines met the Baldwin Breakers for the third
time this year and once again came away with a resounding win,
this time by the score of 36-0. The Knights dominated the game
both offensively and defensively, improving their season record
to an impressive 6-1.
The first half was all Green and Black. Four touchdown runs,
one by Antwain Carter and three by Jamyle Liebro, staked the
Knights to a 30-0 halftime lead while the defense completely
subdued the Breakers.
The second half was more of a midfield slugging match, looking
as if it was going to be played to a scoreless tie. On the last
snap of the game, the Breakers attempted a pass play that was
picked off by Brandon McGough. With a clear field ahead of him,
McGough ran the interception back fifty-two yards as the buzzer
sounded to end the game.

NOTES: Brookline's Wild Stallions ran roughshod over the West
Mifflin Titans, defeating their out-gunned, out-matched and
out-sized opponents by a final score of 48-0. It was as though
the wrath of God had descended upon the hapless Titans.
Marques Watson started the Brookline scoring parade with a
forty-one yard touchdown run on the Knight's first snap of the
game. Bone-crunching defensive hits by Dominic Leonard and J.B.
Nelson on West Mifflin's opening possession pretty much put an
end to the Titans will to continue. To their credit, they hung
in their and kept trying.
From that point on it was just a slaughter. Brookline scored on
every possession and the defense just pounded away at the West
Mifflin attackers, pushing them back time and time again. The
Knights defenders had to have set them back over one hundred
yards by game's end. The Titans suffered a biblical beating.
Aside from witnessing the total annihiliation of the Titans,
this game will probably be best remembered for the constantly
changing weather. One minute it would be sunny, the next cloudy
and cold. After that it began raining, followed by more sun.
This pattern continued until the grand finale, which featured
several minutes of driving rain, howling winds and a stinging
hailstorm. The game was called with three minutes left to play.
Next week the top-ranked and undefeated Knights take on the
tough North Hills Warriors. This has traditionally been a good
rivaly and the pairing should make for a much better football
game than today. With the playoffs around the corner, it's time
for Brookline's Tens to get serious about their intentions.

WEEK #8 - October 20, 2012 @ West Mifflin Middle School
Then, like a scene out of Monty Python and the Holy Grail, the
winds calmed and the rain ended. A ray of sunlight beamed down
through the clouds. The light grew stronger. The clouds parted.
While his Knights finished the weigh-in and started gearing up,
Coach Zilch gazed skyward and ... suddenly he knew his destiny.
Like Arthur and the Knights of Camelot, Eric and the Knights
of Brookline were now on a sacred quest. They would search for
the grail and overcome whatever perils stood in their way. With
renewed optimism and a sense of purpose, Coaches Eric, Chris
and Joey led their legion of Brookline warriors onto the field.
11-UNDER
BROOKLINE 8 - West Mifflin 6
Scoring Summary:
Tyler Becher 30 pass from Nathan Ault (Anthony Carrington run)
Fumble Recovery: Dominic Emma
Interception: Jonathan Morin (2)
NOTES: Coach Zilch and his eleven year old Knights got back in
the winner's column with an 8-6 triumph over the West Mifflin
Titans. It was a close game and went right down to the end. The
Knights defense got tough and overcame a fourth quarter rush by
West Mifflin to salvage the victory.
The first half was played to a standstill. The two teams fought
it out in the mud near midfield, unable to mount any sustained
attack. Anthony Carrington had a sixty yard scoring run, but it
was negated by a penalty. The game was scoreless at halftime.
Brookline broke the scoring deadlock midway through the third
quarter. On a 3rd and thirty, Tyler Becher took a Nathan Ault
pass and rambled thirty-five yards for a first down. Another
Ault to Becher pass was good for another thirty yards and a
Knights touchdown. A good conversion run by Carrington put
Brookline ahead 8-0.
West Mifflin countered with a drive midway through the fourth
quarter. A Titan touchdown narrowed the gap to just two points.
Brookline's defense dug in. West Mifflin tried to sneak it up
the middle for the two-point conversion. They were stopped by
Dominic Emma, who burst through the line and dropped the Titan
quarterback in his tracks.
At the end of the game, Jonathan Morin reigned in his second
interception of the day and ran it all the way back for another
Knights score. This touchdown, like the one in the first half,
was negated by a penalty. It didn't matter, the game was won.
This was a good and deserving win for the eleven-year olds.
It's been a difficult month, with more downs than ups, but the
Knights kept fighting. The hard work has paid off with their
second victory of the 2012 season. They may not have found the
elusive grail, but today they triumphed. Good job, Knights!

WEEK #8 - October 20, 2012 @ Ross Elementary
13-UNDER
North Hills 36 - BROOKLINE 6
Scoring Summary:
Michael Allen 55 pass from Quran Powe (conversion failed)
Interception: Richard Stone
NOTES: Coach Joe and the 13-year old Brookline Knights traveled
to North Hills for a game against the cross-town rival Chiefs.
The underdog Knights put up a good fight in the first half, but
in the end the outcome was as predicted. The Chiefs beat the
Knights by a final score of 36-6.
Brookline kept the game relatively close until near the end of
the second quarter. North Hills was ahead 22-6 and driving
towards another touchdown. Richard Stone intercepted a pass in
the endzone and attempted to bring it out. Held up at the one
yard line, Stone tried to break free and lost the ball. It was
recovered by the Chiefs, who promptly put up another eight
points. Their halftime lead was now 30-6 and the fat lady sang.
The Knights reserve team finished out the game. Jeremy Jenkins
and Justice Jones had a few good runs for the Knights but the
offense was unable to generate a drive. The defensive subs did
a good job holding back the North Hills attackers, allowing
only one touchdown.
The defeat drops Brookline's season record 2-5. Next week's
game against West Mifflin should be just the tonic to put the
Knights back into the winner's column.
