West Allegheny 32 - BROOKLINE 6

Fumble Recovery: Darien Buxton Jr.
NOTES: Idris Wilson was inserted into the game late as running

quarterback Brandon Pezzelle increased his season scoring total
to forty-two points with his seventh running touchdown, in what
was otherwise another difficult loss for our Little Knights.
WEEK #5 - September 29, 2012 @ McGibbeny Field
9-UNDER
West Allegheny 18 - BROOKLINE 12
Scoring Summary:
Jamyle Liebro 42 pass from Grant Hamilton (conversion failed)
Brandon McGough 31 pass from Grant Hamilton (conversion failed)
Interception: Mekhi Gay
NOTES: Brookline's nine-year olds suffered their first defeat
of the season to the West Allegheny Indians in a heart-breaker,
18-12. The Indians offense enjoyed an overwhelming advantage in
time of possession and just kept coming, wearing down the
Knight defense with their persistent resolve.
The first half began with a quick West Allegheny score, then
settled into a mid-field brawl. The Knight offense had trouble
getting in sync and the defense bent but wouldn't break under
the Indians relentless pressure. The halftime score was 6-0.
West Allegheny scored again to open the second half and take a
12-0 lead. The Knight offense went to the air and finally got
on the board. A forty-two yard touchdown pass from quarterback
Grant Hamilton to Jamyle Liebro made it a six-point game.

The Indians struck again to open the fourth quarter with a long
run to increase their lead to 18-6. Brookline countered with a
second touchdown pass by Hamilton, this time a thirty-five
yarder to Brandon McGough, to close the gap to 18-12.
An onside kick by Brookline was recovered by West Allegheny,
who went to the ground and ran out the clock.
Despite coming up short against the Indians, the Knights played
a good game, and were within striking distance until the final
minutes. The defense, led by Mekhi Gay, played well despite
spending a disproportionate amount of time on the field. By the
time Brookline's offense got its game on track it was too late.
It's time to buckle down and work hard this week at practice.
Next Saturday's game against the Southside Sabres would be a
great time to get back into the winner's column.
WEEK #5 - September 29, 2012 @ McGibbeny Field
10-UNDER
BROOKLINE 26 - West Allegheny 6
Scoring Summary:
Marques Watson 6 run (Dominic Leonard run)
Mason Ventrone 2 run (conversion failed)

Fumble Recovery: Shane Woodhall, Dante Douglas

NFL players Ray and
Ross Ventrone visit with the Knights before the game.
The Ventrone brothers got their start playing football for the Knights.
NOTES: Brookline's ten-year olds increased their record to 5-0
with a 26-6 drubbing of the West Allegheny Indians. The Knights
controlled the game from start to finish.
The game began with Brookline's Shane Woodhall recovering an
onside kick attempt. The Knights offense took possession and
mounted a seven-play, fifty-three yard drive for their first
touchdown. Brookline's second scoring march, a sixty-seven
yarder, was highlighted by runs of twenty and thirty-eight
yards by Mason Ventrone, who added the six with a short plunge.
A third Knight touchdown, another long dash by Ventrone, was
called back due to a penalty. The halftime score was 14-0.
Brookline increased their advantage to 20-0 with an eleven-play
drive to start the second half, covering sixty-nine yards. West
Allegheny got on the board late in the third quarter after a
nice pass play positioned them at the Brookline ten yard line.
It was the first TD allowed by the Knights defense this season.
Another onside kick attempt was recovered by Dante Douglas. On
the next play, Ventrone broke loose with a fifty-one yard run
to finish off the day's scoring with the Knights ahead 26-6.
In the fourth quarter, Jahmaine Hatten had a few good runs on
offense and, on defense, Quinn Hunter combined with Aidan Logan
to help keep the Indian attack in check.
This was another strong win for Coach Don and his Wild Horses,
who just wear opponents down with a persistent battering on
both sides of the line of scrimmage. The offensive line played
an excellent game. Kudos go out to left end Jack Sullivan, left
tackle J.B. Nelson, left guard Zachary Munn, center Quinn
Hunter, right guard Nick DelMastro, right tackle Ambre Hunter
and right end Aidan Logan.
