	WEEK #7 - October 14, 2012 @ Montour High School

	8-UNDER

	Montour 22 - BROOKLINE 0

NOTES: Brookline's Little Knights fell prey, 22-0, to the Young
Spartans of Montour. After beginning the season 2-1 the Knights
have suffered three consecutive defeats. They could use a win
in next week's game at West Mifflin to help themselves qualify
for a spot in the post-season SSYFL playoff bubble.

	WEEK #7 - October 14, 2012 @ Montour High School

	9-UNDER

	BROOKLINE 8 - Montour 6

	Scoring Summary:

Antwain Carter 45 run (Mekhi Gay run)

Fumble Recovery: Grant Hamilton, Visawn Pennix
	Interception: Jamyle Liebro

NOTES: Brookline's Nines traveled to Montour High School for a
battle with the first-place Montour Spartans. This was a big
test for the Knights and it turned out to be quite a struggle.
In another hair-raising finish, Brookline held on and put down
a late-game Spartan uprising to claim an 8-6 victory.

This Clash of Titans began with Brookline taking the opening
kickoff and driving downfield. The Knights got inside the ten
yard line but were stopped short of the goal. After that threat
subsided, the game became a slugging match near midfield, with
neither team able to mount an offensive charge.
Brandon McGough launches a punt. McGough made
the tackle on Montour's two-point conversion
to keep Brookline ahead late in the game.
With time ticking away, Jamyle Liebro took a Grant Hamilton
pass and rumbled twenty yards before being brought down at the
buzzer. The first half ended in a scoreless tie.

The second half began with Montour driving downfield. The march
took them to the Knight fifteen yard line before being brought
to an end by a Liebro interception. Brookline's offense seized
the moment. Antwain Carter clicked off two nice runs, then
burst forth with a forty-five yard endzone eruption. Mekhi Gay
rammed it up the middle for the two-point conversion, giving
Brookline an 8-0 advantage with one quarter left to play.
Brookline held an 8-0 lead as
the third quarter expired.
Montour struck quickly. A forty-eight yard scoring dash closed
the gap to just two points. The Spartans tried running for the
conversion but were stopped cold by Brandon McGough. Brookline
clung to an 8-6 lead, and there was still plenty of time left.
Brookline needed to take control and run down the clock.

The Knights offense ran four plays and failed to gain a first
down. Montour took possession with four minutes to work with.
Three first downs put them at the Knight twenty yard line with
1:36 remaining. On the next play a Spartan broke free and ran
for a touchdown. Every Knights fan breathed a sigh of relief
when they saw the yellow flag on the turf. A Montour penalty
negated the score and put the ball back in the field of play.
Montour mounted a charge late in the game
that was stopped with only seconds remaining
to preserve a well-earned Brookline victory.
For the Knight defense, the pressure was on and they responded
with gritty determination. Two plays later, a third down sack
by Carter and Zachary Kalsek set the Spartans back ten yards.
A fourth down fumble was recovered by Visawn Pennix with only
twenty-five seconds to go in the game. Brookline's Nines had
put down the Spartan Menace, earning themselves a worthy win.
These Knights are now 5-1.
Coach Bruce and his Knights proved themselves to be legitimate
contenders today. They went toe-to-toe with another good team
and beat them on even terms, albeit their modus operandi of
keeping everyone on the edge of the seats until the last minute
leaves something to be desired. Their 5-1 record speaks for
itself. Great job, Knights. Keep working hard and improving.
The girls had fun in the circle while
their Knights won another big game.

	WEEK #7 - October 14, 2012 @ Montour High School

	10-UNDER

	BROOKLINE 34 - Montour 0

	Scoring Summary:

Mason Ventrone 56 run (Dominic Leonard run)
Jack Sullivan 17 pass from Nick Roell (Marques Watson run)
Mason Ventrone 35 run (conversion failed)
Mason Ventrone 55 interception return (conversion failed)
Dante Douglas 12 run (conversion failed)

Fumble Recovery: Marques Watson (2), Mason Ventrone, Nick Roell
	Interception: Mason Ventrone

NOTES: Coach Donnie and his Wild Stallions raised their league
leading record to 6-0 by crushing the Montour Spartans, 34-0.
Like an inexorable force, the galloping steeds, clad in green
and black, stampeded up and down the football field, leaving a
legion of battered and bruised Spartans in their wake.
These wild horses are chomping at the bit
to get a shot at the Spartans of Montour.
Brookline scored on their first possession, a fifty-six yard
dash by Mason Ventrone. A conversion run by Dominic Leonard put
the Knights on top 8-0. Montour's offense began the game moving
in reverse, forced back by two J.B. Nelson aggravated assaults.
Brookline took the ball and marched downfield again, this time
scoring on a seventeen yard pass from Nick Roell to Jack
Sullivan. Marques Watson aced the conversion for a 16-0 lead.
Dominic Leonard brings the Brookline point
total to eight with a good conversion run.
A Spartan turnover gave the ball back to Brookline. Ventrone
added another six to the point parade with a thirty-five yard
touchdown run. Another Brookline takeaway gave the Knights one
more chance before halftime. Roell marched the offense to the
Montour ten yard line before coming up short on fourth down
with just seconds to go. The score at intermission was 22-0.
The cheerleaders blazed their own winning
path with a dazzling halftime routine.
Midway through the third quarter, Ventrone ran an interception
back fifty-five yards for his third touchdown of the day. At
this point the second team entered the game and made the most
of their opportunity. The defensive subs snuffed the Spartans,
forcing a punt. Jahmaine Hatten returned the kick twenty yards
to the Montour thirty-two yard line.
Dante Douglas scores in the fourth quarter
to end the Brookline Knights point parade.
Reserve quarterback Sullivan then led the team on one final
charge. Jack's seventeen yard run set up a twelve yard scoring
scamper by Dante Douglas, increasing Brookline's point total to
thirty-four. The final five minutes saw the Knights defense
push the Spartans back into a fourth and thirty-one. One final
punt and a kind knee by Sullivan ended the lopsided slaughter.
These Wild Stallions are growing
increasingly dangerous. Beware!
Brookline's offense gained 244 total yards. The Knights ran the
ball thirty-one times for 227. Mason Ventrone led all runners
with 113 yards on six carries. Marques Watson powered his way
to sixty-four yards on twelve touches, and Dominic Leonard
	contributed twenty-one on four runs.
The Brookline defense held the
Spartans to negative yardage.
On the other side of the scrimmage line, Montour runners were
held to minus thirty-three yards on fourteen carries. A seven
yard pass completion bolstered their net deficit to a negative
sum of twenty-six. That's called defensive domination.

That's Brookline Knights football, and it's coming your way!

Next week it's on to West Mifflin. If the Titan's had any sense
they'd run for the hills, because Coach Donnie and his herd of
wild horses is on the loose and blazing a trail of destruction.
There's nothing like cheering for the winning team.    Marques Watson is a powerhouse runner.

And the score at halftime ... 22-0 Brookline.    Nick Roell, Aidan Logan, Dominic Leonard,
J.B. Nelson, Ambre Hunter, Nick DelMastro
and Craig Hodge trampelled the Spartans.

Mason Ventrone, J.B. Nelson, Aidan Logan and
Ambre Hunter. They all played great today.
Ventrone had a phenomenal game. Mason ran
for 113 yards, scored three touchdowns, had
an interception and a fumble recovery.    Mason Ventrone is off on his
55 yard interception return.

Jahmaine Hatten looks for running room in the
fourth quarter. Jahmaine played a good game,
with a long punt return and some nice tackles.    Jack Sullivan had a touchdown reception and
led the reserve offense on a scoring drive.

	WEEK #7 - October 14, 2012 @ Montour High School

	11-UNDER

	Montour 36 - BROOKLINE 16

	Scoring Summary:

Jonathan Morin 60 pass from Nathan Ault
		(Anthony Carrington run)
Nathan Ault 70 run (Anthony Carrington run)

NOTES: The Knights season record dropped to 1-5 after a 36-16
loss to Montour. The Spartans racked up a 30-0 lead during the
first half. Brookline scored twice in the second half to put a
smile on the faces in the stands. Next Saturday's game versus
West Mifflin would be a good time to put the struggles of the
past three weeks behind and get back that winning feeling.
Brookline's eleven-year old Knights

	WEEK #7 - October 13, 2012 @ Park Avenue Field

	13-UNDER

	Bethel Park 20 - BROOKLINE 0

Fumble Recovery: D'onte James, Sharron Steave, Richard Stone,
			 Christian Frazier.

NOTES: The Brookline Knights traveled to Park Avenue Field for
a game under the lights against the Bethel Park Hawks. It was
Senior Recognition Night for the Hawks and they made the most
of the occasion, shutting out the Knights by a score of 20-0.

The first half was close. Neither offense was able to generate
any momentum. While Bethel was able to move the ball with some
consistency, turnovers stymied their efforts. The same could be
said for Brookline. The Knights had a couple nice gains but
could not put together any sustained movement.
Brookline's defense kept the game close
for three quarters, but couldn't hold
back the Hawk's indefinitely without
any support from the Knight offensive.
Midway through the second quarter, the Hawks broke the ice with
a sixty-seven yard drive, capped off by a nineteen yard scoring
run. Another Bethel scoring opportunity with seconds remaining
was denied by a D'onte James sack as time expired. At halftime
the Hawks held a 6-0 lead.

The Knights made their deepest penetration into Hawk territory
on their first second half possession. Highlighted by a long
pass from Brent Ivory to Christian Frazier, Brookline drove to
the Bethel twenty before turning the ball over on downs. A Hawk
back broke free two plays later on a sixty-eight yard run to
increase the Bethel advantage to 12-0.
Brookline's offense had a difficult
time with the Hawk's hawkish defense.
A touchdown on their next possession put the Hawks up 20-0 and
the game was over. Brookline's second team took the field and
finished the contest. Ryan Hough made a couple nice tackles on
defense to keep the Hawks from causing any further distress.
For Bethel Park it was sweet revenge after four consecutive
defeats in the past three years to the Knights.

Brookline as a whole did not play well. The defense got lucky
on a few accurate passes that were dropped by Bethel receivers.
The Hawks probably should have scored another two touchdowns.
On the flip side, Brookline completed only five of fourteen
passes for a mere forty-two yards while the Knights rushing
	attack took the night off.
It doesn't matter what the score is,
Brookline's girls are always ready
to show off their Colgate smiles.
