	WEEK #5 - September 25, 2010

	8-UNDER

	BROOKLINE 28 - Brentwood 0

	Scoring Summary:

Brenton Morefield 11 run (conversion failed)
Brenton Morefield 30 run (Brenton Morefield run)
Brenton Morefield 13 run (conversion failed)

	Fumble Recovery: Marques Watson (2)

NOTES: The eight-year olds improved their record to 2-2 with
a 28-0 victory against the Brentwood Dukes. Strong running by
Brenton Morefield, Marques Watson and Dominic Leonard kept the
Brookline offense moving. Quarterback Nick Roell and end Aidan
Logan also contributed some nice yardage through the air. The
Knight defense put on a stellar performance, holding the Dukes
scoreless to register their first shutout of the season.

	WEEK #5 - September 25, 2010

	9-UNDER

	BROOKLINE 14 - Brentwood 12

	Scoring Summary:

Cole McMullan 1 run (conversion failed)
Cole McMullan 86 run (Cole McMullan run)

NOTES: Coach Mike's nine-year olds made it two-in-a-row with a
14-12 squeaker over the Brentwood Dukes. Led by Cole McMullan
and Gaige Grzelka, the Knights scored their second big win.

Grzelka got things started with a sixty yard kickoff return on
the opening play to set up McMullan's first of two touchdowns
for the day, a one-yard burst. Grzelka also turned in a steady
performance at defensive end, subbing for a missing starter.

McMullan played the majority of the game with a sore ankle,
but that didn't slow down the speedy back. Quarterback Nathan
Ault and McMullan kept the ball moving with consistency. The
offensive line put in their best effort of the season, keeping
the running lanes open. McMullan electrified the crowd with an
eighty-six yard scoring run in the third quarter. His encore
two-point conversion turned out to be the game-winning points.

	WEEK #5 - September 25, 2010

	10-UNDER

	BROOKLINE 30 - Brentwood 0

Quran Powe 3 run (Darryl Daniels pass from Brent Ivory)
Quran Powe 70 run (conversion failed)
Darryl Daniels 58 pass from Brent Ivory (Lamar Lewis run)
Quran Powe 20 run (Quran Powe run)

NOTES: Coach Joe's ten-year olds boosted their season mark to
four wins against no defeats with a 30-0 victory over the
Dukes of Brentwood. The Brookline defense held the Dukes to
only eighty yards total offense while the Knights Quran Powe
and Darryl Daniels put on a clinic in offensive momentum.

Powe's three touchdowns give him eight for the season and a
total of fifty-two points. Daniels fourth touchdown and sixth
successful conversion (five on passes from Brent Ivory) give
him a count of thirty-six. Together, the dynamic duo have
positioned the Knights as mid-season favorites for a strong
post-season playoff run. Keep up the good work, guys!
Quran Powe had a big game against Brentwood.

	Scoring Summary:

Anthony Johnson 45 run (conversion failed)
Anthony Johnson 35 run (Christian Frazier run)

	Fumble Recovery: Ronnie Dunlap

NOTES: Brookline's eleven-year old Knights fell victim to the
Brentwood Dukes, 20-14. It was their fourth defeat in as many
games, but the team showed signs that their losing streak may
	be in jeopardy.

Brentwood got on the board twice early to forge a 14-0 lead.
Anthony Johnson answered with a long scoring run to close the
gap to 14-6. Johnson pulled the Knights to within two points
early in the third quarter with his second touchdown burst.
Christian Frazier tied the game at 14-14 with a successful
	conversion run.

The Dukes came back with a six-point kickoff return to retake
the lead, 20-14. The fourth quarter was a defensive struggle.
Brookline had two possessions in Brentwood territory late in
the game but could not push the ball past the Duke thirty.

Brookline's defense put the big
hurt on the North Hills Chiefs.
NOTES: The much anticipated match-up between the undefeated
North Hills Chiefs and the Mighty Knights of Brookline didn't
quite live up to it's billing. Although the Chiefs actually
managed to put fourteen points on the board, they paled in
comparison to the Knights forty-four point onslaught. It was
a good, old-fashioned spanking. The Knights laid it on from
start to finish, silencing the critics and giving Brookline
righteous claim to the top seed in the SSYFL.
Quarterback Connor McGinnis scores his
first touchdown in the second quarter.
Connor put in a dominant performance,
both on offense and on defense.
From Anthony Pham's eighty-seven yard kickoff return to start
the game to Tyion Powe's thirty-five yard punt return late in
the fourth quarter, Brookline put the big hurt on North Hills.
The Chiefs were big, and their pre-game reputation was bigger.
During the course of forty minutes, Brookline's butchers cut
them down to size. By game's end, only the carcasses remained.

For the first time this season, the Knights faced a challenge.
The team broke a sweat and had to play some real football. In
the end it was just another example of gridiron gangsterism.
Offensively and defensively, North Hills got pounded.
At halftime the score was 22-8.
For the stat geeks among us, here's the Butcher's Breakdown:

The Knights gained 161 yards total rushing - Khalil Sanders
(17-72), Connor McGinnis (14-61), Michael Roper (9-14), Tyion
Powe (2-14). McGinnis completed six of eight passes for 178
yards and three touchdowns. His receivers - Adam Ottaviano
(4-121), Anthony Pham (1-35), Malik Petite (1-22). The offense
held possession for twenty-five	minutes and chalked up eleven
first downs. The front line skewered the Chief defenders.
Khalil Sanders had a good day rushing
with 17 carries for 72 yards. Here, he
converts a 4th and two with some power
running. Khalil and quarterback Connor
McGinnis were relentless on the attack,
grinding down the vaunted Chief defense.
North Hills, on the other hand, managed only thirty-four yards
rushing on twenty-one attempts. Passing, they completed only
four of thirteen for forty-five yards and one touchdown. They
held possession for fifteen minutes and managed a paltry four
first downs. Sacks by Khalil Sanders, Donnie West, Zacheria
Sesay and Brendan Cunningham inflicted additional discomfort.
A second quarter Knight fumble returned for a touchdown and a
third period scoring pass were all the North Hills fans had to
cheer about. Aside from that, Brookline fans were all smiles.
The Knights left North Hills with bragging rights.
And finally, you know things are going bad when the Voice of
the Victims, frustrated over a twenty-two point deficit and
an inability to stem the tide of defeat with enthusiasm, turns
to harassing the visiting sideline. "You in the red, and you
in the gray, get off the field, NOW!" Sorry Charlie, but only
good tuna get to be Starkist. Nothing like a sore loser. With
all due respect, "Every picture tells a story, don't it?"
A sight-to-see at Martorelli Stadium.
