These Knights were stoked for this game.
It's time to prove once again who's boss.
NOTES: Coach Donnie and his Mighty Knights, the reigning SSYFL
champions, began their title defense with an impressive 50-0
drubbing of the Thomas-Jefferson Jaguars. It's clear that this
team hasn't skipped a beat, and preliminary reports are that
they might be even better than last season. One thing is for
sure, this group of gridiron gangsters is bigger, meaner and
more explosive than any we've seen in quite a while.
The Knight offense, led by Connor McGinnis,
looks strong both on the ground and in the air.
The Knights offense is led by quarterback Connor McGinnis, and
fueled by a strong corps of runners and receivers. The front
line packs a thousand pounds of TNT, blasting their way
forward in furious bursts. They toyed with the Jaguars all
day. It seemed as if every Knights offensive play went for
more than ten yards. The only thing that held Brookline back
was their own mistakes. Add another 100+ yards in kick returns
by Tyion Powe and the hometown Jags were brutally overwhelmed.
By halftime the score had rocketed to 36-0.
Nicole's cheerleaders put on their
first strong performance of the season.
On the opposite side of the ball, the Knights defense swarmed
like a plague of locusts, devouring everything in their path.
The Jaguars were held to minus yardage for the game. Richie
Ryan and Joey Kalsek returned fumbles for touchdowns. Jeff
Arnold and Adam Ottaviano registered blistering sacks. Pain
and suffering were inflicted liberally by the entire line.
This was not a good day to be wearing Black and Gold.
This is a view that undoubtedly strikes fear
in the weak of heart. This defense is wild, wanton
and wicked. They should come with a warning label.
The second-team got plenty of opportunities to shine. Edgard
Fumbula did a fine job guiding the JV offense, chewing up the
clock and adding a few points to the scoreboard. On defense
the reserves also played hard, keeping the Jaguars securely
in the cage. The Knights depth-chart is brimming with talent!
The second-string offense, led by
Edgard Fumbula, put on a good show
in relief of the starting eleven.
With one dominating game under their wings, the Mean Machine
is once again the team to beat in the SSYFL. From what we've
witnessed today, that will be a tall order for anyone. Come
one, come all! The Knights have a firm grip on the Super Bowl
trophy. If anyone wants to take it away, they'll have to come
ready to rumble. These Green Gangsters mean business.
