Resurrection Church Windows

The stained glass window
above the front entranceway.

One of the striking features of Resurrection Church is the beauty of the stained glass windows adorning the sanctuary. The main window above the entranceway is steeped in symbolism and has a wonderful likeness of Jesus Christ. In the vestibule and along the sanctuary walls are twenty-nine individual windows, each representing one of the Saints. On a sunny day vivid colors surround the inside of the church with a wonderful glow. In addition, eight other windows adorn the inner hallways of the church building.

Most of the windows were installed back in 1939, when the church was built. After years of accumulated grime, an initiative was launched back in the late-1990s by then-Pastor Father Joseph Grosko to have the windows cleaned and restored to their original luster. The results were stunning!

Then, in 2008, Pastor Father Frank Mitolo dedicated eight new windows, honoring recently-canonized Saints. A ninth new window was installed with a portrait of Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton and dedicated to the Sisters of Charity of Seton Hill for their years of service to the Church of the Resurrection.

Below are photos of the windows depicting the Saints along with links to their biographies.
