Pittsburgh City Council

 

Proclamation

Whereas, the Brookline Boxing Club was established in 1957 at Moore Park in Brookline and has been coached since its inception by Citiparks Center Director Chuck Senft; and,

Whereas, the Brookline Boxing Club has won titles in the divisions of Golden Gloves, Silver Gloves, Golden Belts, Silver Belts, AAU and AMA Jr. Olympics as well as City of Pittsburgh Recreation Champs and defeated teams from Michigan, Ohio, West Virginia, Philadelphia and numerous local clubs; and,

Whereas, Coach Chuck Senft has trained many City of Pittsburgh employees including city firefighter Tommy "The Alterboy" Alexander, and many notable celebrities including former champion Michael Moorer, surgeon Tim Ward, WDVE radio personality Jim Krenn and comedian Matt Wohlfarth; and,

Whereas, the 1999 Brookline Boxing Club team, representing the City of Pittsburgh, won eight gold and seven silver medals in the Jr. Olympic championships, and Scott Magdic won outstanding sub-novice fighter; and,

Whereas, the 1999 Brookline Boxing Club team consists of the following members: Ryan Simmons, Phil Giampa, J.B. Reagan, Mark Daley, Tony Susan, Brian Wilkesmore, Ronie Cabilr, Scott Magdic, Mike Custer, Robert Watkins, John Yimin, Dave Wacker, Shane Carpenter, Jim Bauer, John Prilla, Greg Greco, John Rutherford, Brian Brugos, Craig Masterori, Mike Raffaele, Theodore Bayens, Ryan O'Connell and Ben Johns, coaches Mike Bayens, John Ladasky III, Mike Lenkner, Dave Cippollone, and head coach Chuck Senft; and,

Now, therefore, be it resolved that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh congratulates the 1999 Citiparks Brookline Boxing Club and its coaching staff on all of their accomplishments and awards and declares:
