Brookline Blvd
and Breining St - 1956
Then and Now
Here's a intersection of Brookline Boulevard and Breining Street in 1956. It was considered a very dangerous crossroads, with narrow driving lanes. This was the scene of numerous accidents. At the urging of the local citizens, the city had the poles supporting the trolley wires relocated to the sidewalks. Fifty years later, in 2004, more than just the poles had been removed. The trolley tracks were gone and the roadway was a wide avenue. |
