Brookline Blvd at Glenarm
Avenue - 1933
Then and Now
|
Here is a photo of the 900 block of Brookline Blvd near the intersection with Glenarm Avenue, in 1933. Note the Kroger grocery store. Many of the buildings farther down the Boulevard were destroyed after a fire in 1973, and the Mazza Pavilion (Brookline Terrace) apartments were built in their place. The trolley tracks would be in place for another 33 years, before being removed in 1966. Here is a photo of the 900 block of Brookline Blvd near the intersection with Glenarm Avenue in 2004. It hadn't changed much in seventy years. In 2008 the building where Wanna Be Tan was located (second from the left) was irreparably damaged by fire and has since been razed. Now there is just an empty lot. |
