The Brookline Knights finished the regular season 6-1 and in a three-way tie for first place. Their only defeat was a 46-40 double-overtime loss to the Springview Trojans in Game 6.

As fate would have it, the Knights and Trojans would square off again in the first round of the playoffs, and this time Brookline was out to avenge that defeat.

On October 21, 2000, the Knights came to McGibbeny Field on a mission, and when the dust cleared they had out-fought, out-matched, out-played and outright dominated the Trojans, winning the contest by the score of 32-8.

Brookline scored early in the game on a 13-yard run by E.J. Taylor, then followed up with two long touchdown runs by C.K. Mayo on their next two possessions to take a commanding 24-0 lead. With the line of scrimmage firmly in the control of the Brookline defenders, the game was all but over.

Springview tried an on-side kick to start the second half in an attempt to force a change of kharma. Brookline's Jeremy Bock issued the denial by scooping up the ball and taking it 52 yards for another Brookline score. It was that kind of day for the Trojans.

A late touchdown on a broken play by Springview's James Morris made the final score 32-8.

In a game that was more like an exercise in domination and submission, Brookline's defense held Springview's mighty running attack to a scant 92 yards. The secondary yielded an additional 53 hashmarks. Jeff Kmiecik chipped in with an interception to put a cork in a promising first-half Springview drive.

Brookline's offense was led by C.K. Mayo with 161 yards on 15 carries, and quarterback Jeremy Bock who carried the ball 12 times for 108 yards. Receiver Joe Barry chipped in with two receptions for 24 yards.

In a game many thought would be the title matchup, Brookline played like champions, earning the right to take on the Carlynton Cougars in the finals next week at Montour Stadium. If the same Knights show up to play as against Springview in round one, there is no question about the outcome.
